Tuesday 13th (Shrove Tuesday- Pancake Tuesday)
Girls get back to school and it's Shrove Tuesday...... How lucky are they??? Had to get Harper some pancakes today too so she doesn't miss out at kinder....... That would be devastating 😂😂
Just home and back into the swing of things and it's crazy busy..... We're moving house this week. So we need to pack and try and sell some stuff from the house and we've got our final contract signing with our builders this week too, so exciting, but crazy busy!!!
Whilst I've been in Queensland and whilst being back, a few concerned EFGR patients have contacted me wanting to know how I'm going with seeing Prof Ben Solomon. They are also concerned that Alectinib does not work and Gary is wasting my time. They want to know when I'm going to see Prof Ben Solomon as my second
opinion. I've finally been able to get in contact with someone who has said that the earliest I can see him is the 1st of March. Now I just need a confirmation of time and how to get all my reports to him.
Didn't sleep at all today, had soooo much on my mind. A daily afternoon sleep has become a bit of a ritual, so if I don't get one it feels strange and I feel super extra tired.
This week the girls start all their after school activities too. Tahlia starts musical theatre tonight, (missed netball yesterday) and Kiara starts guitar on Friday.
Tonight Sean took Tahlia to her musical theatre class and he said she loved it. This is right up her alley. I think she'll enjoy this. Well she came back and couldn't stop taking about it!!!! She's pumped!!! So happy for her.
So while we've been away I've noticed more symptoms that have become particularly prevalent in the last couple of days.
Besides feeling:
- Vague
- Dizzy when getting up from sitting
- Tough to think on the spot
- Loose train of thought easily
- Soooo tired
- more hair falling out
I've also noticed some cognition and motor skill issues too. Kano and I don't typically celebrate Valentine's Day as a couple (it's usually a family celebration where we eat yummy seafood and chocolate). But I usually get him a card, and tonight I noticed that my handwriting had changed, that I was finding it difficult to write (it was messier than normal). This was confronting because I was really trying and that was the best I could do.
Wednesday 14th Feb Valentine's Day!
YAY!!!! IT'S VALENTINES DAY!!!!
The girls got a secret Valentine's Day note and special pink and red choccies in their lunch boxes today and I needed to see them for a special Valentine's Day kiss before school today.
Daddy left for work early today so that we could have an early dinner and not have to do any packing tonight.
I got the girls dressed in red and had the gorgeous doll that Dian (from school) made for Kane.
Daddy came home and he had pressies with him. First he gave me this gorgeous card that spoke about the Samurai that is on the Hermes scarf. He said he found it appropriate because I'm a fighter like the Samurai. Love it so much!!!! So thoughtful and love the colours too! Then Kane gave me a gorgeous set of Tiffany silver hoops.
Super spoilt this year.....but I'm not complaining.
Gave Kane his doll and he loved it sooo much. It's super cute!!!
Then we had our traditional Fergs Valentine's Day dinner platter and chocolate and desert.

Thursday 15th February
Now I just want to be in the "new rental" and have this moving behind us. It's been difficult for me to take a back seat in this whole move, I've really been uninvolved in the whole process. For people who know me well, will know I need to be organised, I need to manage and control situations, so to completely let go and not know how or what's going on with the move has been challenging but refreshing for me. It was tough to let everyone else take control and do it all...... But they did an amazing job (more later 😊).
Later I met the gorgeous Katie McKinnon (#bayside artist, #block artist) who is going to do some amazing artwork for us when build our new house...... Her art makes me smile!!! Go and check out her artwork on Instagram she's amazing!!
Then my gorgeous friend Jenny Dimattina came over with her son Nicholas for a visit, always lovely to see them.
Later that evening we had parent teacher meetings. I thought it was important for us to go to these one in particular because this year both Tahlia and Kiara have teachers I don't know (except for Fiona Lee) I wanted to explain to them how things have changed at home and what it means for the girls. I told them that it means that often the girls don't see me in the mornings, so I don't do their hair, I don't drive them in, I don't get their breakfasts or lunches. I explained that sometimes I'm sleeping when they get home too.
Their once really active mum, isn't anymore and they miss me.
I'm not even cooking these days and they miss mummy's cooking. I think I'll start cooking a couple of times a week.
It was good to explain how things have changed and to make them aware that they are normally/usually happy kids and we need to just keep an eye on them but they're doing really well so far. All the teachers were so accommodating and understanding and of course willing to help in anyway possible OLA and the whole community have been amazing!!! We are truly blessed!
Then all day I've been thinking about Janet and Steph!!!!!! Because today is the day of the BIG SCAN!!!!!! BECAUSE THEY'RE HAVING A BABY........ YAY! They're having a baby!!!! Soooo excited for them, I just knew everything would be ok for them. Such an anxious time the "danger zone" but their bubba is super healthy and doing well. FANTASTIC NEWS!! Made me sooooo happy to see that message with a super cute baby 🐼
Mum spent her last night at our place because tonight Kane is dismantling our beds. So better for mum to sleep in the comfort of her own bed tonight and Kane is working from home because we're doing our contract signing.
Friday 16th February
BIG DAY!!! We're singing our building contract! We went into Thomas Archer at 10am and went through the whole contract. During the meeting Kane and I had a few questions and now we are just waiting to see if it feasible from a costing perspective. Thomas Archer have been amazing..... They have really tried to make this process a simple one (fingers crossed) it remains that way 😊.
Later I had a handyman come around to remove my 2 leadlighting panels. I thought I would have the original 1940's leadlighting from the house as new artwork in the new contemporary home. I was just so nervous that he was going to break it. He said he was anxious too because it's very thin. But he it it!!!! Great job and didn't bust it at all!!! I can't wait to see what it looks like framed in the new house!!
Today is my cousin Brad's birthday.... Hope you had an awesome day Brad, with Ange and Willow.
That night Janet and Steph announce their news on Facebook!!! Facebook blows up!!! Sooo exciting!!! My guess..... A girl 💕💕
Saturday 17th Feb moving day
Easiest moving day ever!!!! Thanks to my gorgeous hard working hubby and my brother Wayne, sister Fleur, and gorgeous cousins Chad and Rach moving day was good.

I spent the day at mums sleeping (hiding out) while the girls went up Michael and Cibeles's for the day. Thanks guys for having the girls and for dinner and drinks on Saturday night..... Really appreciate it!! Love you guys.

Crappy nights sleep for me.... He was tossing, turning, jumping (YES JUMPING IN BED). Several attempts to turn him on his side did little to chill him out!!

Sunday 18th Feb
Back at it! Because I'm at home now and I see lots of boxes and things that need to be put away I started to. I just need to be careful I don't fall over.
Then at 10am Grace and Mira drove over an hour to help as well (I have the best friends). Thanks so much for putting all the girls folded clothing away...... Such a massive help and got rid of heaps of boxes. Nice to gas bag during the process too. Thanks for making us lunch too 😘😘
Not long after Grace arrived Nathan (my gorgeous cousin) arrived to help disconnect the gas and water lines to our house. What a legend!!!! Thanks so much Nath....... Kane says you're a machine!!
It was a fun day as it was revolving doors today. 10 mins after Grace left my mum arrived at about 2pm and then a couple of mins later Lindy come over with bagels and treats for the girls.
Was so nice to see Lindy as we haven't caught up in ages. Lindy helped with Tahlia's room which was a great help.... Thanks Lindy and happy 39th birthday for tomorrow (soooo young).
Then Wayno arrived, he's taking the girls to Chad's birthday party (part 1) at AMF BOWLING!!!! Unfortunately we can't be there still unpacking at a seriously slow rate.... Hey but at least I'm not falling over 😜 I manage to sit and unpack. Happy birthday for tomorrow Chadly, sorry we couldn't be there today/tonight. We'll celebrate with you very soon. Thanks for picking the girls up Wayne they had a ball and Kiara was super pumped that she WON!!!!!
Lindy and I then couldn't stop talking about how gorgeous our dolls are from the gorgeous OLA Mum's. She just couldn't get over how awesome an idea it is and how well they are made. I'm a lucky lady and girls haven't slept without them since getting them last week (either has Kane 😘). Thank you so much for the super thoughtful, gorgeous dolls. We'll treasure them forever.
Then 5 mins after Lindy left, our friends and personal stylist Nik (AMOS HAIR SANDRINGHAM) came over to shave my head!!!!
So you know how you can't easily see the back of your head??? Well mine was patchy..... I want it neat! So the legend Nik gave me a zero!!!! Looks heaps neater and now Sean looks even more like me...... Lucky bugger 😂

MONDAY 19th Feb
We're in and it feels like we've been here for a month (well almost 😊)! I feel settled already. There are still some boxes out and about but we're pretty settled and now I'm looking forward to the build!!!
This week is all about treatment and working out what's going on with me.
Tomorrow I have a full body MRI, this will be the first measure I've had on my brain since the radiation I started on the 11th of Jan (5.5 weeks ago) and it's also the first measure I've had in my body since not taking any effective meds for the EFGR mutation. As you can imagine I'm looking forward to some positive news on Thursday when I see Gary although I'm slightly sceptical and nervous and that's the reason I'm going to get a second opinion with Prof Ben Solomon at Peter Mac.
I feel the results will come back showing no improvement in the EFGR (bodily cancer) and that the radiation (too early too tell). I'm not being negative I just don't feel confident based on our previous discussions. So I feel that he will talk about a way forward from this point.
Then on Wednesday I have the usual monthly blood test and on Thursday I have my appointment with Gary and a follow up Zometa treatment.
So it's a big week for testing and treatment and hopefully after the second opinion from Prof Ben Solomon on the 1st of March, we have a clear way forward so we can finally put an end to all of this nonsense 😊
On another note Sean and Katie sent me a photo of the both of them after 1hr in a flotation tank......I was spinning out how much my brother looks like me (without the facial hair). Although unfortunately when you loose the hair on your head from radiation....it doesn't effect other more useful areas like your mono-brow or mo!!
Who knew I'd post of pic of myself with a buzz cut and no makeup and I'm OK about it :)
